FAQs – Elevated Work Platform
Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Here, you can answer most of your basic questions before you contact us. If your question isn’t answered below, feel free to ask us by calling, emailing, or filling out our online form.
Question 1:
What size of elevated work platform (EWP) do I need?
Answer 1:
It depends on several factors:
- The access height to reach
- The surface from which the elevated work platform will be ascending
- The proximity to power equipment and electrical dangers
- Weather and working conditions
- Other factors unique to your situation
While you can begin by estimating the working height, the best way to know for certain is to contact us and request a quote. Our trained staff can take into account all the details and tell you why one elevated work platform is preferable to another.
Question 2:
Will I have to operate the elevated work platform machine myself?
Answer 2:
With Budget Height Access, you get a fully trained and certified operator with each machine. You won’t have to operate it yourself. By Australian standards, any EWP hire that has a capacity over 11 metres requires a fully certified operator to manage the machine under all circumstances.
Question 3:
What safety equipment comes with the EWP hire?
Answer 3:
Each elevated work platform truck has a set of safety harnesses, witches hats, safety signs, and two-way Radios for communication from ground to bucket. This ensures every job will have the safety equipment necessary to protect both operators and bystanders.
Question 4:
Do you carry insurance cover?
Answer 4:
Yes! We carry $20 million dollars of insurance cover. The Industrial Special Plant (ISP) policy covers most of the common issues for operating heavy machinery. This includes breakdowns, road risks, property damage, and others. The Public Liability policy covers all other non-specific issues that may arise. On top of all that, we carry Queensland (QLD) Workcover insurance for all our employees.
While we take every precaution to protect both people and property, you can rest easier knowing added protection is in place to compensate for unpredictable events.
Question 5:
How often is the machinery formally inspected?
Answer 5:
Every 3 months, we submit our elevated work platform machines for inspection. Each elevated work platform (EWP) is required to be put through a quarterly inspection by a government licensed Inspector. We keep a full record of each service and inspection for each telescopic tower. Additionally, we check our two insulated EWPsevery 6 monthsto ensure they’re complaint for protecting against electrical dangers.
Question 6:
How often is each EWP machine checked visually?
Answer 6:
Every day, our operators inspect each truck visually. They keep a logbook and fill it outbeforecommencing any work. This practice allows us to maintain the elevated work platform and keep it in proper working condition.
Question 7:
What is the difference between an Elevated work platform (EWP) and Mobile Elevated work platform (MEWP)?
Answer 7:
Essentially, there is no difference. These are two general terms for the same concept. Most modern elevating work platforms are mobile. Meaning, they come on the back of trucks or other multi-wheel transport systems.
Question 8:
Where does the term “EWP hire” come from?
Answer 8:
When searching on the Internet, many people run into the problem that they only get results for manufacturers selling mobile elevated work platforms. However, they most often need to hire an EWP service. Therefore, the term “EWP hire” came about to differentiate the service from the product.
